Few steps from the well-known Duomo Square, it's possible to find Residence Pansa, a wonderful structure situated in an ancient building of the oldest medieval quarter of Amalfi. Standing of the history, this building belongs at the end of the 18o century. Thanks to its panoramic position, guests will have the availability to enjoy all the surroundings of the Ancient Maritime Republic of Amalfi. The building, completely remoderned, dispose of six rooms, furnished in a very good taste and all of them, with terrace facing the sea. Ovviously rooms guarantee all comforts. Residence Pansa is located in the heart of Amalfi, in the Byzantine quarter, called Vagliendola, where the numerous house-towers served as watching places for the Harbour below during the period of Ancient Maritime Republic. In the same area there is an artistic church, San Biagio, the steeple of which is the landmark of the western section of the town. Along the stairway another church San Nicola of the Greek can be seen, so named after the Byzantine, who lived in the neighbourhood. The main entrance of Residence Pansa gives onto the medieval street; some of its rooms have still got original vaults of the XVIII century. The traditional white plaster gives brightness to te rooms, while the pink of the facade recalls the chromatic urban invention of the XVII century. All year round the Residence enjoys the sweetness of the sea air and full day sunlight. The Pansa family, who own the Residence, are one of the oldest families in the town. A member of it, Andrea Pansa, opened the well-known pastry shop in 1830.Pasticceria Pansa, now a historic place, is located in the famous Duomo Square. Some of its typical products have a fundamental ingredient:The Amalfi lemon, which grows in an unpolluted oasis of peace and green in the heart of Villa Paradiso in the Mill Valley: the very moment it's picked from the tree, it is taken to the pastry shop so that its fresh and pleasant scent as well as its precious juice are immediately transferred to the delicious pastry.
